The Western Wisconsin Workforce Development Board, Inc. (WDB) and Workforce Connections, Inc. are extremely pleased to present a cumulative Community Audit Report for Western Wisconsin. The project was made possible through a grant from the United States Department of Labor.
Workforce Connections, Inc. staff surveyed area employees in Western Wisconsin to identify the factors that lead to job retention. The October - December 2002 survey targeted employers with high levels of vacant jobs and industries with a high presence in the area.
Job Vacancy Survey - In cooperation with the regional Labor Market Analyst, Bill Brockmiller, Workforce Connections, Inc. surveyed employers in Western Wisconsin on job openings. Data collected from 1999 to 2002 includes the types of openings as well as the locations, wages, benefits and training associated with these openings.
The Mississippi River Regional Planning Commission (MRRPC) is a commission of nine counties (Buffalo, Crawford, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe, Pepin, Pierce, Trempealeau and Vernon) located along the Mississippi River in western Wisconsin. The Commission was organized in 1964 to provide planning assistance on regional issues, assist local interests in responding to state and federal programs, provide advisory service on regional planning problems, act as a coordinating agency for programs and activities, and provide cost shared planning and development assistance to local governments.
The Western Wisconsin Technology Zone was designated by the State of Wisconsin on June 25, 2002, to support the development of high technology businesses. The seven counties that make up the Western Wisconsin Technology Zone are: Crawford, Jackson, Juneau, La Crosse, Monroe, Trempealeau, and Vernon. The State has granted $5 million in state tax credits to this seven county zone for use by expanding high technology businesses. North Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (NCWRPC) - The NCWRPC is a commission of 10 counties (Adams, Forest, Juneau, Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Oneida, Portage, Vilas, and Wood). The purpose of NCWRPC is to prepare plans for the physical development of the region and its communities, to conduct research, to serve as a data center, to serve as a forum for communication, cooperation, and coordination among federal, state, regional, and local interests and to provide technical services to its membership.
